The CL12 variety is a round-grain rice variety developed with the participation of Italian institutes. The Clearfield technology incorporated into the variety provides plant resistance to specific herbicides for weed control.

The plant possesses genetic resistance to the rice blast pathogen Pyricularia oryzae due to the presence of the Pi-kh gene. Based on its characteristics, the grain of this variety is classified as a product with a medium glycemic index and is used in cooking.
