The variety is short-season, with a maturity period ranging from 81 to 97 days. The plant is of the semi-dwarf type with erect stems and leaves. The grain is straw-colored with colorless apiculi having purple splashes. The grain size is comparable to the Wells variety.

The variety is intended for the Clearfield production system, providing resistance to certain herbicides. It is characterized by high lodging resistance (rating of 2 on the straw strength scale), but is susceptible to sheath blight and rice blast.
