The variety was obtained through selection at the Valencian Institute of Agricultural Research (IVIA) via plant selection at the F2 stage. It is intended for cultivation under specific climatic conditions, in particular, in the Ebro Delta region.

The plant has a development cycle in which flowering occurs on average after 116 days. The variety is known as a reference standard for resistance to rice blast, due to which it is actively used in scientific research for comparative trials with susceptible varieties.
