The variety was obtained through a breeding program by crossing the JSendra variety with the CT13432-34 variety to introduce resistance genes to the fungus Magnaporthe oryzae. The plant belongs to short-stature varieties with a long growing cycle and forms medium-sized pearly grain.
A key feature of the variety is genetically determined resistance to leaf and panicle forms of rice blast. Resistance genes Pi-1, Pi-2, Pi-33, as well as a number of other resistant alleles, including Pik, Pi63, Pita, Pi54, and Pib, have been identified in the genome.
