The Ribe variety, also known as Euribe, is traditionally cultivated in the Po Valley. It was bred as a result of selection between the Italian Rb variety and long-grain rice from the USA.
The grain of the variety belongs to the long type (Lungo A) and has a crystalline structure. The rice maintains its shape, remains firm and loose after cooking, and is therefore suitable for preparing side dishes, salads, soups, pilaf, and risotto. It is frequently released in a parboiled form, which allows for the preservation of nutrients and prevents clumping during culinary processing.
