Ripallo is classified as a round-grain rice, although conflicting data regarding its classification as a long-grain indica type have been encountered in some materials. Currently, the variety has the status of being excluded from official certified seed registries.

During agronomic research, the variety was noted for its high capacity for rapid germination, with more than 70% of seeds germinating within seven days. In storage conditions, the variety was used in experiments studying grain storage methods and pest control using cooling aeration.
