The variety was bred using anther culture. Genetic analysis showed that the absence of trichomes in this variety is controlled by a single recessive gene, localized at the same locus as in the smooth variety Akenohoshi.

This variety is a subject of genetic studies on the mechanisms of trichome formation and smooth leaf surface in rice. Data on its agronomic characteristics, including yield and disease resistance, are absent.
