Violino is a registered breeding unit of Italian origin. At the moment, open agronomic publications and official registers do not provide detailed data on the morphological traits of the plant, maturity group, disease resistance, or quality indicators of the produce.

In Italian food culture, there is a variety called Vialone Nano, which should not be confused with Violino. Mentions of the name Violino in scientific literature are most often associated with the work of researcher Simona Violino, dedicated to methods for assessing the quality of agricultural products, and do not relate to the characteristics of a rice variety.
