The variety Madrigal is used in scientific experiments as a model object for studying the influence of rhizosphere bacteria on plant metabolism, germination stimulation, and alkaloid accumulation.
In research, the variety is characterized as a plant with a very low morphine content in the capsules. Madrigal is also used to study resistance to downy mildew and to test endophytic microorganisms that provide protection against pests.
