The variety was developed as an oil crop with a valuable fatty acid composition. Seed oil contains 70–75% essential linoleic acid and is completely free of erucic acid.

A key feature of the variety was a significant reduction in morphine content compared to common plant forms. The variety was actively cultivated between 1978 and 1992, after which it was replaced in breeding programs by the variety «Libra».
