The Smaragdfa hybrid is sterile (triploid), which excludes the possibility of uncontrolled self-seeding and invasiveness. Propagation of the plant is carried out exclusively by the in vitro micropropagation method. The hybrid is not a genetically modified organism, as it was obtained through traditional breeding.

The plant is characterized by rapid growth, adding up to 2–3 meters per year. By the age of six, the tree reaches a height of 16 meters with a trunk diameter of 35–40 cm; the maximum height is 20–30 meters. The root system is taproot, penetrating to a depth of up to 9 meters.

The wood of the hybrid is characterized as low-density, light-colored, and water-resistant, with a uniform texture. The plant is adapted to the climatic conditions of Hungary and has increased water-use efficiency, requiring irrigation mainly in the first two years of life.
