The Stala variety belongs to the species Phacelia tanacetifolia and is characterized by branched stems 30 to 80 cm in height. The plant is densely covered in hairs, has pinnately dissected leaves, and violet-blue flowers gathered in coiled inflorescences. Flowering begins 35–50 days after sowing, and the full cycle for seeds lasts about 110–120 days.
The plant possesses good resistance to short-term droughts and light frosts. The honey productivity of the variety is from 300 to 700 kg per hectare. The green mass is used as livestock fodder due to its high calcium content, as well as a green manure to suppress weeds and enrich the soil with organic matter.
Due to a long flowering period of up to 5 weeks, the variety is used in landscape gardening and as part of flower mixtures.
