The Crochu de Montmagny variety belongs to climbing beans and requires the installation of 2–3 meter supports. In terms of maturity, it is early. The variety is traditionally used as a shelling bean for obtaining dry grain, suitable for culinary processing after soaking.
The plant forms short, curved pods, inside which 4 to 6 seeds are densely arranged. The seeds are small in size and oval in shape, characterized by a dark burgundy color. The pods are characterized by a "trimmed" appearance, which arises due to the tight fit of the seeds against each other.
