The plant belongs to the pole bean group. The variety name is derived from the appearance of the seeds: the grains have a rounded or elliptical shape, colored with mottled reddish or cherry spots on a light background.
The variety is versatile in use, but is traditionally grown for high-quality grain. The population is adapted to the climatic conditions of Slovenia and has undergone selection aimed at standardizing characteristics and preserving the properties of the crop.
