The variety Guardian (breeding number D83353) belongs to the dark red kidney bean group. It was obtained by crossing the lines Red Kloud-4 and Montcalm.
The plant belongs to the bush determinate type 1a. It has strong upright stems, which makes the variety convenient for direct combining. The vegetation period is about 95 days, and the period to 50% flowering is approximately 44 days.
The variety is resistant to bean common mosaic virus, in particular to strains NY 15 and BV 1.
