The variety is a traditional local landrace included in the "Lamon bean" group with a protected geographical indication. The plant is of the climbing type and is morphologically a Borlotti-type bean, characterized by distinct red spots or stripes on the seeds and fruit.
The product is valued for its high nutritional quality, thin seed skin, and short cooking time, which makes it traditionally used in soups. In recent years, populations of this ecotype have faced threats from viral diseases, including bean common mosaic virus.
