The variety has a very slow growth rate, reaching about 0.3 m in diameter at the age of ten, and in a mature state the plant height is from 1 to 2 meters. The crown has a flat-globose shape with short, horizontally arranged shoots. Cones do not form on the plant.

The needles are thick, stiff, and prickly, arranged radially, and colored blue-green. The variety belongs to hardiness zone 3. Planting requires sunny sites and fertile, moist, well-drained soils with an acidic or slightly acidic reaction.

The plant is intended for landscape design. It is used for decorating rock gardens, flower beds, heath gardens, grown in containers, or planted as a specimen plant in small gardens.
