The plant is characterized by very slow growth of about 2.5–8 cm per year. At the age of 10, the height and width of the crown reach 35–45 cm, and the mature plant grows to 0.8–1.2 m.
The needles are short, stiff, prickly and thick, having a steel-blue or bluish-green hue with a waxy bloom, which intensifies during the winter period.
The variety possesses high winter hardiness (USDA zone 3–4) and is resistant to drought and Verticillium wilt. The crop is used in landscape design for small gardens, rock gardens, container cultivation, and can be grown as an own-root plant or grafted onto a standard.
