The variety originates from the area of A Cova do Vilar in the municipality of Xermade, Lugo province, Spain. Its identification and conservation are being carried out by the Center for Agricultural Research in Mabegondo (CIAM) to prevent the extinction of the autochthonous species.
In official registers, the variety is registered as a smooth-seeded pea (Pisum sativum L. (partim) – Guisante grano liso). Detailed agronomic characteristics of the plant are currently not specified in open publications.
