The pea variety «Hetman» is characterized by the absence of a parchment layer in the pod valves, which allows them to be consumed whole. The plants reach a height of 60–70 cm and belong to the sugar type, which is popular when growing vegetable produce for consumption at a young age.

Open publications lack data confirming the authorship of breeders Shtelma A. M., Shevchenko L. N., Glyantsev A. V., Vasilenko A. O., and Bezuglyi I. N. regarding this variety. Cases of using the name «Hetman» for other agricultural crops, such as cucumbers, tomatoes, and lupin, have also been recorded.
