The variety is of folk origin from the Ekshärad region in Värmland and has been historically grown in peasant farms since the beginning of the 20th century. The plant reaches a height of 80–100 cm and requires the mandatory use of supports, such as netting or stakes.
The variety is universal: pods without a parchment layer are suitable for consumption fresh or boiled, and the dry seeds resemble chickpeas. The vegetation period is about 65 days; the plant is frost-hardy and adapted to short summer conditions.
The flowers of the variety are red-violet in color. Ripe seeds are small or medium in size and have characteristic blue speckles on the surface.
