Kungsärt belongs to the sugar pea type. The plant is of medium height, reaches 1.5–2 meters, and has a strong ability to cling to supports. It blooms with single white flowers and forms curved, light green, fleshy pods.
The variety is valued for its high taste qualities at both the young and fully mature pod stages. It is characterized by high yield and a long harvest period. Historically, the variety was widely used until the mid-1950s and is considered a predecessor to the Sugar Snap variety.
