The Kalao (Kalao-cov) variety is a vigorous tree with a semi-open canopy. The variety is self-fertile and does not require the presence of other pollinator trees to set fruit. Under Spanish conditions, ripening occurs in the mid-late period.
The fruits have a round or round-oval shape, AA–AAA caliber, orange ground skin color and a red blush. The fruit flesh has high firmness, good juiciness, and a sweet taste. The variety exhibits resistance to Plum pox virus and low susceptibility to cracking during ripening.
The plant is intended for commercial cultivation and is oriented towards modern market requirements for fresh produce.
