The CORNETTA variety (synonym «Corniola») is a vigorous tree 6 to 12 meters tall with a rounded crown. The fruits have an unusual elongated-heart shape, weigh from 10 to 12 grams, and are colored an intense red, turning almost black upon ripening. The flesh is firm, crunchy, with a sweet dessert taste and a small stone.

The harvest takes place in the first ten days of July. The fruits are versatile in use, suitable for fresh consumption, processing, and preservation in alcohol. The variety possesses good resistance to diseases and cracking from rain, and is characterized as frost-hardy. It is partially self-fertile; planting pollinators is recommended to increase yield.

The variety name derives from a Latin word meaning "horn," which reflects the shape of the berries. The variety is traditionally cultivated in the Emilia-Romagna region and is valued as a rare collector's type adapted to various growing conditions.
