Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is of Italian origin and has been known since the late 18th century. The tree has good growth vigor and an upright canopy. The variety is self-incompatible; Kordia and Regina are recommended as pollinators for cross-pollination.

Fruits are medium to large in size, weighing 10–12 g, with an intense red, nearly black color and firm red flesh. The harvest ripens in the second week of July. The variety is characterized by good resistance to fruit cracking after rain and medium to low susceptibility to Monilinia.

The fruits are used for fresh consumption and industrial processing. Due to the similarity of the name to the Italian name for Cornelian cherry, the variety is sometimes found under the synonym Cornetta.
