The variety is a traditional cultivar, not a breeding hybrid. The name "miúda", which means "small" in Portuguese, reflects the main morphological feature of the fruits — their small size.

The fruits are intended for fresh consumption. Local ethnobotanical sources characterize the variety as having a rich flavor, despite the small size of the berries. Detailed agronomic characteristics, including maturity dates and disease resistance, are absent from open sources.
