Variety description

10 August 2026

The name Primaticcia translates from Italian as "early" and is used to designate a number of local ecotypes and landraces, such as Primaticcia di Montespino or Primaticcia di S. Pietro. This is a biologically heterogeneous group, including various S-genotypes.

The characteristics of these forms may vary, but common traits include an early ripening period occurring in May-June, as well as the use of fruits for fresh consumption. Historical literature contains descriptions of trees with large crowns, high yield, and fruits with light-yellow flesh.
