The Garnem rootstock was obtained by crossing the almond variety Garfi and the peach variety Nemared. Plants have reddish leaf coloration, which facilitates the identification of root suckers.

The rootstock exhibits high resistance to root-knot nematodes and drought, as well as good tolerance to excess lime in the soil, preventing chlorosis. At the same time, sensitivity to bacterial canker of stone fruit crops is noted.

This rootstock is compatible with a wide range of stone fruit species and promotes good productivity of grafted varieties, while not having a significant effect on the ripening dates of the scion fruit.
