The Vinete Românești variety is a local Romanian variety widespread in Transylvania. The fruits are characterized by a pleasant taste and are widely used for industrial processing, especially for the production of the traditional drink țuică.
The plant possesses extreme susceptibility to Polystigma rubrum and Plum pox virus, as well as high sensitivity to leaf spot. The variety is used in breeding programs as source genetic material due to its flavor qualities.
