The Alexandru variety is a selection achievement of Romanian agronomic science. In scientific literature, it is also referred to by the designation hybrid H 1/2043/84 and is included in the official Catalog of varieties and hybrids of Romania.

This variety underwent trials to evaluate productivity and adaptation to climatic conditions in Bihor County and Dobruja. Cultivation of the variety is limited to regions with suitable climates, as the plant is sensitive to extreme temperatures.
