The variety is a local Italian landrace from the Apulia region. The tree is self-incompatible and requires pollinators; fruiting occurs on annual shoots and spurs. During abundant harvests, a decrease in floral bud initiation may be observed.
Fruits have a hard shell with a kernel turnout of about 35%. The elliptical kernels reach a weight of 1.8 g, with the proportion of double kernels ranging from 15 to 35%. The variety is valued for its high alpha-tocopherol content.
The plant possesses tolerance to red leaf blotch caused by the fungus Polystigma amygdalinum, and also demonstrates resistance to collar rot.
