Variety description

The plant is a shrub or small tree, reaching 4–6 meters in height and 3–4 meters in width at maturity. The crown shape varies from broadly conical to oval or rounded. Leaves are lanceolate or narrowly elliptic, 8–12 cm long, characterized by a leathery texture, dark green color with a sheen, and wavy edges.
A distinctive feature of the variety is the wine-red color of young shoots and petioles. Flowering occurs in May-June with white fragrant flowers in raceme inflorescences 15–25 cm long. The fruits are small drupes, ripening to a dark purple or almost black color.
The variety has a dense structure and tolerates pruning well, making it suitable for forming hedges, espaliers, and topiary figures. The plant is characterized by disease resistance and winter hardiness of approximately -15...-20°C. The fruits and all parts of the plant contain cyanogenic compounds and are not edible.
