The tree is characterized by vigorous growth and high regular yields. The flowers are of the non-showy type, and the leaves are characterized by the presence of globose glands.
The fruits are medium to large in size and have firm yellow flesh that does not melt during thermal processing. The variety belongs to the clingstone group; the pit adheres tightly to the fruit flesh.
Biological characteristics of the variety include a tendency for the pit to split and the formation of red pigmentation around it. In modern breeding, it is used as a reference standard for evaluating the productivity and fruit quality of other varieties.
