Variety description

10 August 2026

The tree is characterized by moderate vigor and good productivity. The variety was obtained as an open-pollinated seedling of the O'Henry variety. The Jefferson Sun variety is a bud mutation of the Berenda Sun variety.

The fruits are medium-large, round, with dark red skin and yellow freestone flesh. In California conditions, ripening occurs approximately 45 days after the Redhaven variety.

The variety is intended for fresh consumption. Studies on the winter hardiness of the variety's flower buds were conducted in the context of assessing damage from low temperatures.
