The variety is a traditional genetic resource historically cultivated in Italian regions where vineyards were common. The variety is considered one of the progenitors of modern nectarines.
The fruits are very small, weighing 40–60 g, and have a regular, slightly asymmetrical shape with a shallow stalk cavity and a faint suture line. The thin yellow skin is decorated with a sparse, diffuse light red blush; pubescence is absent.
The fruit ripening period traditionally coincides with the grape harvest. At present, the variety is considered primarily as genetic heritage.
