Prunus persica (L.) Batsch Peach · Fruit crops

also searched as: пурпуреа

Variety description

10 August 2026

The tree reaches a height of 3–5 meters. The main distinctive feature is the purple-red or dark red color of the broad-lanceolate leaves, which persists throughout the season. The flowers are dark pink or bright red, double or semi-double, and appear early, in March-April, often before the leaves emerge.

The plant is light-loving; in case of light deficiency, the foliage turns green. It is sensitive to stagnant water and waterlogging of the soil. The tree produces sweet, fleshy fruits, however, the primary purpose of the form is decorative landscaping.

In some cases, red-leaved forms are used as genetic material for breeding new fruit varieties.
