The French variety Sweetstar was obtained as a result of hybridization of a white nectarine. The ripening period occurs in August. The flesh is white, the fruits are suitable for long-term storage and commercial sale in sliced form, the pit separates poorly or moderately.
The American variety Sweetstar is part of the Stellar breeding program and ripens in August. The fruits are large, with yellow melting flesh and a freely separating pit. The tree is self-fertile, requires from 750 to 950 chill hours, possesses high winter hardiness of flower buds and resistance to bacterial spot.
