The rootstock was obtained through open pollination of the G.F. 557 hybrid and was previously known by the breeding number I.S.5/22. It is distinguished by its ability to restrict the growth of the grafted variety 40% more effectively compared to the G.F. 677 rootstock.

The plant is well adapted to fertile, permeable, and calcareous soils, demonstrating resistance to chlorosis. The rootstock is characterized by a low ability to root from cuttings but propagates well in tissue culture.

The use of this rootstock promotes early entry into fruiting of grafted trees, higher yields, increased fruit size, and improved intensity of their coloration.
