The variety Martina belongs to the genus Rhododendron, group Rhododendron simsii. The plant is intended for cultivation in protected ground as a potted crop and is not winter hardy for open ground in temperate climates. Detailed morphological characteristics of the variety are absent in open publications.
In trade catalogs, common heather (Calluna vulgaris 'Martina') is also found under the name Martina. It is an evergreen shrub 20–30 cm tall with red-violet flowers, intended for use in landscape design.
