The plant is a hybrid of Ribes rubrum and Ribes warszewiczii, obtained through artificial pollination. The bush is characterized as vigorous and strong-growing, with reddish glabrous young shoots, on which glandular punctate hairs are sometimes found.
Leaves are rounded, 3–5-lobed, with a cordate base, reaching 11 cm in length and 12 cm in width. Fruits are purple or dark red in color, sour in taste, and ripen in late June and July. The berries are distinguished by a very dark, almost black hue, and can be smaller than those of common red currant varieties.
