The variety Rote Vierländer (synonyms: Erstling aus Vierlanden, Earliest of Fourlands) is a vigorous bush 100–150 cm tall and 80–100 cm wide. Fruit ripening occurs from late June to mid-July.
Berries are dark red, translucent, juicy, about 8 mm in diameter, and possess pronounced acidity and aroma. The variety is self-fertile and adapts well to cultivation conditions.
The plant has high winter hardiness (down to -29°C) and resistance to powdery mildew. Resistance to leaf spots is rated as medium.
