The variety is an old representative of English breeding. Historically, it was valued as a "prize" variety due to the size and weight of the fruit. It was used as a parent form in the creation of some Jostaberry varieties, in particular Jostine.
The fruits have a light green color, sometimes with a golden hue, without bloom or with a very weak bloom. During experimental plantings, ten-year-old bushes reached a height of about 1.1 meters.
Due to the venerable age of the variety, its resistance to modern strains of American powdery mildew is assessed as low, which requires special attention to disease protection. The variety was tested at the Research Institute of Pomology and Floriculture in Skierniewice as part of scientific research on the mechanical harvesting of gooseberries.
