The variety is a vigorous subshrub with trailing shoots reaching 1.5–2 meters or more in length, which requires the use of trellises. The shoots are covered with large, powerful thorns. In a number of regions, this species is classified as an aggressive invasive plant.
The variety is characterized by late maturity with a prolonged fruiting period of up to 6 weeks. The berries, weighing about 5–6 g, have an oval shape and a glossy black color, and possess a sweet-and-sour dessert taste. The plant has moderate winter hardiness and requires covering in the conditions of the middle zone.
