Rubus odoratus is a deciduous shrub of the Rosaceae family. The plant reaches a height of 2–3 meters and forms erect, slightly branched shoots that can spread into dense thickets via root suckers.

A distinctive feature of the shoots is the absence of thorns. The bark of young stems is light green and covered with hairs and glandular bristles. The shrub blooms with large purple-red flowers 3–5 cm in diameter, which have a pleasant aroma.

The plant is adapted to the conditions of North American forests and possesses high vitality. In horticulture, it is valued as an ornamental crop due to its prolonged flowering; however, information regarding economically valuable varieties or industrial berry productivity is absent.
