The Giganton tetra variety is classified as a tetraploid form of rye. The plant belongs to the tall category, reaching a stem height of more than 150 cm. In comparative trials of tetraploid varieties, the variety demonstrates certain lodging resistance indices, being inferior in this regard to medium-stemmed forms.
This variety is used in organic farming for flour production, and is also used as a forage crop. Research is being conducted on the use of this variety as part of winter cereal crops for the production of green mass for fodder.
