The variety is intended for the cultivation of the fungus Claviceps purpurea. In official lists, it is classified as a crop for ergot production. As part of breeding work, a Sopronhorpácsi Tetra variant was also mentioned, which was characterized by the problem of excessive stem height, requiring the use of growth regulators.
Detailed agronomic characteristics, such as maturity group, exact height, or grain quality indicators, are absent. Important traits during selection of the variety were the length of the vegetation period, stem height and resistance, as well as the shape of the ear, which influence the effectiveness of using the plant as a substrate.
