The variety is classified as oilseed mustard. Its seeds were intended for the production of industrial and edible oils, as well as for use as a spice. The plant is a cruciferous crop with an upright branched stem; the pods have stiff hairs and a flat beak.

The period from sowing to flowering is 36 to 60 days, full maturity occurs in 90–120 days. The variety was historically used as a model object for laboratory research, including experiments on the study of reaction to stress factors and agro-homeopathy.
