The Solea variety is diploid and is classified as a catch crop. It is characterized by its ability to reduce soil infestation by the beet cyst nematode (Heterodera schachtii), corresponding to resistance class 1 or 2.

The variety is a product of breeding activities by the Belgian institute ILVO (ILVO-PLANT). In agronomic registers, including the lists of the Federal Plant Variety Office of Germany, this variety appears in tables of catch crop characteristics.
