The variety was obtained through individual selection from local populations of Sarepta mustard and its Chinese accessions. The plant is characterized as high-yielding and drought-tolerant.

The seeds of the variety are small, dark greyish-blue in color, and their oil content varies from 30 to 39%. The variety is an oilseed crop and, in the mid-20th century, was widely cultivated in various regions of the USSR, including Stavropol Krai, Rostov and Saratov Oblasts, Bashkiria, and Kazakhstan.
