The plant has a spreading bush habit; the use of supports is recommended due to the weight of the fruits. The fruits are dark purple in color, with lengths of 15–25 cm considered optimal for harvesting.
The variety is early-maturing: when grown in Italian conditions, the first harvest ripens at the end of June or the beginning of July, and a secondary harvest is possible in September if pruning is performed in August.
The fruits are traditionally used for frying, preparing vegetable casseroles, and for preservation in oil or vinegar. The variety has also been used in scientific research as a sample from a Mediterranean genetic collection.
